Start the New Year with a New Passion!

• No, we don't mean a new romance - although that might be wonderful, it's just not what we do at Great Women's Vacations!

But what about your other passions? What about the things you love to do but never make time for?

Learning vacations are what you're looking for. Whether it's a weekend craft retreat or a week in Italy learning the language, cuisine, or history, a learning vacation allows you to indulge your passion for trying new things, stretching your wings, or just catching up on a favorite project.

• If you love quilting, beading, or scrapbooking - and have friends who share your interest - why not get together for a craft retreat? Many retreats are held in small B&B's and can accommodate only a few crafters. Perfect for a girlfriend getaway - you'll have the place to yourselves and get personalized attention from the owners!

• A more ambitious vacation could involve a trip to another country to learn a new language or join an archaeology dig. These are good for solo travel, too. If you really want to learn more about a country that you'd like to visit often, learn the language and history. You'll feel like a local in no time, and have a much richer experience.

• For foodies, cooking trips are also learning vacations. A week in Italy, France, or Singapore should include at least an afternoon of hands-on cooking classes - or a food appreciation (tasting) tour! There a many available via Viator.com. I love the tasting tours - you get some great sightseeing done at the same time!
